In the years I have been a part of the community of Organic Market Gardeners I have seen a few thousand ways to get plants out of the ground. Some worked, most were not as helpful as others, and some were just bad ideas being foisted onto people by some who could not do all they claimed. But if you have the ability to write, and have done those things you want to write about, and it has to do with bringing plants and food into the world in a way which makes sense, I want to read what you have to say.
I can't promise to publish what you send. If it's good, concise, and stays to one topic at a time (sort of), I will find a place for it here. Here are the topics . . .
Gardening, Pruning, Planting, Seeds, Seeding, Tools, Equipment, Sourcesing, Fertilizing, Economics, Pests, Chemicals, Organic Farming, Soil Testing, Marketing, and fairly anything that has to do with gardening and farming that does not use petrochemicals in it's creation or production.
If what you want to say is how you actually did something intended to do some good in the gardening world, you are being offered a place to say it.
But there's a few rules, many of which have still to be formulated. So here's the few rules I will start off using. Contributors will all have a say in the rules as we go forward together.
Good Earth Soil Magazine is accepting articles. Only these accepted Contributors will have the opportunity to publish in GESM. Others wishing to contribute, or become a Contributor, may submit articles for consideration. Contributors will have a say in who will and will not be allowed to contribute.
Contributors should not pick fights, but should make good arguments. An Argument is stating premises in support of a conclusion. Arguments in favor of something are great. Link to good stuff if you can. Promoting your tool, book, or method is fine. Arguments in opposition are great, so long as you propose a better way to go. Saying "I like this better, and here's why" is the right idea. Never mention any other Contributor in a negative manner.
Nobody is getting paid here. This is not something intended to make money, if there's a change to this rule Contributors will be told everything and compensated according to decisions made by the Contributors generally. I reserve the right to change this as necessary. Assume you will not be paid for this. Assume that I support anyone trying to make an honest buck. Contributors should consider promoting this page using your regular channels. The more who find us, the more who find you. Contributors should promote themselves within their own articles and each other by citation in their work.
You will be listed with the Contributors on the page. and in the topics tag cloud. You can link to anything from within the Article and add video directly. Spam posting might be removed and the Contributor might be banned if necessary.
Send your articles, or ideas for articles to me. As we go along there will be changes and new ideas for how to get make the Magazine better. I will be acting as editor for the time being and may offer notes prior to publication to keep quality and continuity in the effort we are making together. Please include a few key words for search topics, theses might even include your name. I may publish articles contributed prior to going live to give people a better idea of how this all might fit together.
David Smith.
